Rock and Yoga
Amazing Mind, Body, Soul Experience Now Offered Next Date TBD 8:30am - 2pm at Reimer's Ranch $135 per person All climbing gear is provided. Please bring your yoga mat, water and lunch. For ages 18+ Professionally lead yoga by Audrey Davis , paired with professionally guided rock climbing with TCA owner, Sam Brodnax. Learn how both activities compliment each other in this course. Yoga will enhance your rock climbing through body awareness, balance, flexibility, breath work, focus, and restoring the body. Participants will experience the two practices with a day of yoga and rock climbing where you will learn the basics of top rope climbing and proper climbing technique. We will be practicing Yoga for one hour before we climb and 30 minutes after with at least 2 hours of climbing in between. Participants will walk away with a better understanding of how to be more mindful and efficient while rock climbing through the practice of Yoga. Yoga Instructor: Audrey Davis Audrey started practicing yoga over 10 years ago, and has been climbing for about 7 years. She’s inspired by the idea of finding strength, safety, clarity, and curiosity through movement, which led her to her CYoga practice, and eventually to teach CYoga. She found that this style aligned with her climbing practice, not only because it built an incredible amount of mobility (read strength and flexibility), but also because it felt like projecting a climb. It felt like facing something you think may be impossible, breaking it down, exploring the breath, noticing the body’s boundaries that day, when to push, when to stop, when to try again, etc. It’s her passion to share this curiosity and excitement for movement with everyone she comes in contact with. Rock Climbing Guide: Sam Brodnax Sam is a lifelong Austinite that has been a rock climber for 10 years and a climber his entire life. Before he could walk, he climbed tall trees, appliances and furniture. He started his official climbing career at Prescott College in Prescott, Arizona where he participated in and went on to teacher assist many rock climbing classes. There, he achieved a bachelors degree in Adventure Education and Human Development. He is certified as a Single Pitch Instructor through the American Mountain Guides Association and a certified Wilderness First Responder. He is energetic, fun, eager to teach, and loves to share his passion for rock climbing and nature. x
