COVID-19 Policy

Picture
To Our Awesome Clients,

We wanted to take a moment to reach out and first of all thank you for the support you’ve shown during this unprecedented time that we’ve all been doing our best to get through.  COVID-19 has had a major impact on so many aspects of our lives and  outdoor recreation is no exception.  The commercial guiding world has been rocked by this terrible virus.

For over 25 years, we here at Texas Climbing Adventures have put the safety of our clients and instructors before all else.  This is why we took it upon ourselves to pause our operations even before the government mandated a shutdown of non-essential businesses.  The risks of bringing groups together in the name of rock climbing was far too great and your health and safety will always take priority when you are a part of a Texas Climbing Adventures outing.

Now we know that there are proven measures we can take to stay safer.  Here are the steps we are taking to keep you, as well as ourselves, as protected as possible:
  • Temperature Check - Your guide will check your temperature on site.  Anyone with a fever will not be allowed to participate and will need to leave the site.  So, if you are feeling sick, or have a fever, please just stay home.
  • Face coverings -  We are requiring face coverings for all clients and instructors. No exceptions.  These masks may include but are not limited to buffs/ non fitted surgical masks/ cone duster masks/ cotton masks/N95 or P95 respirator masks.
  • Hand Sanitizer -  We will provide hand sanitizer on site.  You will be asked to sanitize your hands prior to and following your climb.  We will also recommend you provide your own personal supply of hand sanitizer that you may use at your own discretion.
  • Group size  - Groups will be limited to no more than 6 people.  This will hopefully only be a temporary measure.  We regret groups cannot be larger than this, but until more strides are made against the novel corona virus we intend to limit group size to 6.
  • Social Distancing.  This is perhaps the greatest challenge in a climbing environment.  Due to the nature of the activity, personal space is limited.  Your instructor will be monitoring the distance between you and the other members of the group.  You may be asked at times to move further apart.  Please do not be upset with your instructor if they do this.  Even if you are climbing with someone you already live with, we have every intention to uphold the social distancing guidelines as much as we can.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation with these safety measures.   We are all adjusting to these new norms that have been thrust upon us.  But, just because things are different, we can still find joy in the great outdoors.

Thank you,
Texas Climbing Adventures Team
